  A: Air cleaner and duct assembly removal comes first when replacing the Thermostat. The hose clamp pliers (J38185) should be used to reposition the hose clamp positioned at the Thermostat Housing prior to drain the coolant partially. Use hose clamp pliers (J38185) to disconnect the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing before removing all Thermostat Housing attaching bolts. First remove the Thermostat Housing with its attached gasket along with the Thermostat itself before cleaning all mating surfaces. When installing the Thermostat position it first then install both the Thermostat Housing and gasket to the Intake Manifold. Use rtv sealer gm p/n 1052366 or equivalent to seal the bolts of the housing before tightening them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Repositions the hose clamp pliers (J38185) for hose clamp installation after reconnecting the Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing. Reposition both the air cleaner and duct assembly then fill the cooling system before conducting leak inspections.
