• Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Body on 2000 Buick Century?

  A: To service and repair the Throttle Body, firstly, turn off the ignition and drain enough motor coolant to avoid leakage of motor coolant from Throttle Body cool bypass hoses. Remove the breather tube from the air intake tube, pull out the air intake tube, disconnect the iac valve electrical connector, tp sensor electrical connector, and accelerator controls cable. If relevant, remove the cruise control cable from throttle lever and accelerator bracket, remove accelerator control cable bracket. Remove the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses and remove the heater pipe nut at the Throttle Body. Unscrew the nuts and bolts which are holding the Throttle Body to the Intake Manifold and remove the Throttle Body assembly. Clean surfaces of the gaskets in the Intake Manifold and Throttle Body assembly without resorting to any solvent that could damage the surface. Install a new gasket if it was used and install the Throttle Body assembly, making sure it is secured with the retaining nuts and bolts, torqued to 28 n.m (21 lb-ft). Connect the Throttle Body bypass hoses of coolant and heater pipe nut in a Throttle Body, add the iac valve electrical connector and tp sensor electrical connector. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket, reconnect the cruise control cable as applicable and then connect the accelerator controls cable. First, reinstall the air intake tube, then connect the air intake tube (and the IAT sensor Electrical connector), brace the breather to the air tube is a good thing for sure. Add the coolant back and check the throttle is free with no binding between nearly closed and wide open. Inspect for full throttle opening and closing by the accelerator pedal operation as well as poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
