• Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Body on 2001 Buick Century?

  A: To service and repair the Throttle Body, you must turn off the ignition and drain sufficient quantities of engine coolant so that there is no leakage of Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses. Pull off the air intake duct, then disconnect the iac valve electrical connector, and the tp sensor electrical connector. Next, pry off the accelerator control cable bracket, unclamp the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses, and unclamp the heater pipe nut at the Throttle Body from the inlet. Take out the stud of bolt that is assisting the Throttle Body from the Intake Manifold and then remove the Throttle Body assembly. During the installation, clean the surfaces of gaskets on the oftake manifold and on the Throttle Body assembly using no solvent that could damage the surfaces. In case the gasket is worn out, install a new gasket and get the Throttle Body assembly. Install the Throttle Body retaining stud and bolt; tighten to 28 n.m (21 lbft). Connect the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses, the heater pipe nut on the Throttle Body, the iac valve electric gauge and tp sensor electric gauge. Refit the accelerator control cable bracket, as well as view the air intake duct before refilling the coolant. Make sure that the throttle is free to move without binding through closed position to wide open position, check for full throttle opening and closing when the accelerator pedal is slightly moved and provide poor carpet did under the accelerator pedal.
