How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2000 Buick Century?

You can begin the replacement when you open the rear compartment and remove its release actuator. Remove push-in retainers from the latch with the Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover (J 38778). Add grease pencil marks on the rear compartment lid to ensure the part fits correctly. Take off both nuts from the rear compartment stud bolts and pull out the rear compartment latch from its position on the lid. Put the new rear compartment latch on top of the initial marks and fit its push-in retainers into place. Secure the rear compartment lock release actuator nuts with a torque of 10 Nm (89 lb in) onto its studs. Afterwards replace the release actuator back into its original position.
