  A: Engine cranking should reach 120°f (48°C) minimum before technicians start replacing the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (HO2S1). Apply the Oxygen Sensor wrench (J39194) for precise Oxygen Sensor removal maintaining safety of both the permanently attached pigtail and connector. Keep the processes on the in-line electrical connector and louvered end free from contaminants while also avoiding cleaning solvents. Before sensor reuse apply anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or equivalent to the threads. Start by taking off the fuel injection sight shield followed by a switch-off of ignition power before taking out the ho2s retaining clip alongside electrical connector tab. Lift the vehicle to obtain a workable position then extract the rear Oxygen Sensor from the rear Exhaust Manifold using Oxygen Sensor wrench (J39194). When installing the Oxygen Sensor position your new or reused rear sensor into the Exhaust Manifold then torque it to 41 nm (30 lb ft). To complete installation connect the electrical connector to the sensor and secure the tab to its bracket while placing the electrical retainer back in its position and returning the fuel injection sight shield.
