Buick LeSabre Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What tools are required to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1, and what are the steps involved in the process on Buick LeSabre?
A: The replacement of heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 requires an Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) tool for the task. Start by unsecured the fuel injection sight shield before cutting the ignition power supply. Begin by disconnecting the ho2s retaining clip from the bracket. After that disconnect the ho2s electrical connector tab from the retaining clip then remove the electrical connector retainer. Use the Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) to unscrew the sensor whereas the vehicle sits on stands before extracting the rear Oxygen Sensor carefully from the rear Exhaust Manifold. An Oxygen Sensor removal becomes more challenging when temperatures exceed 48°c (120°F). Installation of the rear Oxygen Sensor requires manual insertion into the rear Exhaust Manifold with special anti-seize compound applied to threads either from new sensor components or your alternative p/n 5613695 compound. The sensor coating procedure requires anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or equivalent for reused sensors but new service sensors arrive with this compound already applied. Mount the rear ho2s by applying 41 n.m (30 lb ft) torque before lowering the vehicle and reattaching the ho2s electrical connector. Connect the ho2s electrical connector tab to the bracket followed by the electrical connector retainer installation alongside reinstallation of the fuel injection sight shield.
