2000 Cadillac Seville Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on Bank 1 on 2000 Cadillac Seville?
A: Access to bank 1's Ignition Coil starts with bolt removal from the engine sight shield retention brackets and the engine sight shield itself. Detach the Ignition Control Module's electrical connector. Before continuing, disconnect the electrical connector and Exhaust Manifold bolts for the air system and cut the vacuum hoses for the air system marking its installation location before removing the air bracket bolts and finally removing the air system assembly. You must follow the removal sequence to eliminate ignition assembly retaining bolts before you safely extract the ignition assembly. During installation make sure the ignition assembly contains both grounding spring and insulator. Hook up Spark Plug boots to their respective plugs then set the ignition assembly in place before applying and torquing the ignition assembly retaining bolts to 9 n.m (80 lb in) following the installation sequence. For installation of air, users must first install the air assembly followed by installing air bracket to engine bolts using proper torque settings. Reattach all the necessary vacuum hoses for the air system along with bolts for the air Exhaust Manifold pipe and hook up the electrical connector for the air vent solenoid. After reconnecting the ignition assembly electrical connector, install the engine sight shield before tightening its retaining bolts to 8 n.m (70 lb in).
