2000 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The Heater Core replacement begins with hvac module extract from vehicle while you take out screws which hold the Heater Core outlet cover then proceed to extract it. The Heater Core cover stays in place only through securing screws which need removal before extracting the cover. Take away the cavity seal as well as the whistle and permagum components from the Heater Core cover and also remove the outer seal from the Heater Core. Start by removing the Heater Core retaining clamp screw followed by its retaining clamp and ending with the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw. Extract the Heater Core from the hvac module case - lower then discard Heater Core lower seal, center seal, upper seal and side seals which belong to the hvac module case - lower. Open the retaining tab before you can free the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp. To install use the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp by placing its depression over the ridge on one of the pipes followed by closing the clamp. Place newly installed Heater Core side and upper seals and center and lower seals onto the hvac module case - lower before installing the Heater Core itself. Secure the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in), after that install the retaining clamp together with its screw while tightening the screw to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). The installation process starts with affixing a new Heater Core outer seal to the Heater Core followed by the application of new cavity , whistle , and permagum seals to the Heater Core cover until placing the cover in position while using retaining screws with 1.6 n.m (14 lb in) torque. The hvac module must be reinstalled onto the vehicle following the installation of the Heater Core outlet cover with its retaining screws secured to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in).
