- Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2000 Chevrolet Express 3500?A: For replacement of the upper Intake Manifold, one will have to first disconnect the battery negative cable. Remove the engine cover and the duct for air cleaner intake. Disconnect the fuel injector electric connector, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, evap canister purge solenoid valve, idle air control (IAC) solenoid, and throttle position (TP) sensor. If available, disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose and the pcv tube by twisting to release it. Remove the Spark Plug Wires from the Distributor Cap on the left and unclip the fuel pipes from the back of the engine. If available, remove the air bypass hose assembly and the evap canister purge solenoid valve. Unclasp the accelerator control cable and cruise control cable from the throttle shaft, then you will be able to remove the accelerator control cable bracket from the throttle pipe and Intake Manifold. Bolt and then remove the upper Intake Manifold and clean all sealing surfaces. For installation, attach the upper Intake Manifold onto the motor and tighten the studs initially to 12 nm (44 inch lbs.) and at their second pass to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.), with the center bolts being tightened to the outer bolts. Mount the accelerator control cable bracket onto the Throttle Body and lower air Intake Manifold, clamping the bolts and nut with a torque of 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Reconnect the accelerator control cable and cruise control cable to the throttle shaft and then install the evap canister purge solenoid valve together with the fuel pipes, connect the Spark Plug Wires to the left of the Distributor Cap in the right order. Install the air bypass hose assembly, pcv tube by twisting to hold in place, and the vacuum booster hose to the brake tube if installed. Vubec join the fuel injector electrical connector, map sensor, evap canister purge solenoid valve, iac solenoid, and tp sensor. Finally, attach the air cleaner intake duct, engine cover to putting back the positive cable of the battery.
