2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Delphi CS130D (K43) 102 ampere alternator or the Bosch NCB1 (KG7) 125 ampere alternator on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The first step for replacing delphi cs130d (K43) 102 ampere generator or bosch ncb1 (KG7) 125 ampere generator begins by disconnecting the battery ground (negative) cable then removing the Drive Belt from the generator. Position the protective boot adjacent to the generator output bat terminal for better access while you disconnect the battery (positive) lead from the generator after removing the bat terminal nut. Remove the generator rear brace nut followed by the pivot bolt , rear brace bolt and then finally the rear brace from the generator assembly. The accessory spacer will only be present when installing the bosch ncb1 (KG7) 125 ampere generator. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the generator after separating the stud and bolt from it. Place the generator behind the engine before connecting its electrical components. Users of the bosch ncb1 (KG7) 125 ampere generator must verify that spacer is properly installed. Place generator stud and spacer through generator opening with light force before tightening generator bolt and pivot bolt . Tighten the generator bolts in the following mandatory torque sequence: the generator pivot bolt requires torque to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) while the generator stud needs 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and the generator bolt needs 50 n.m (37 lb ft). After installing the battery positive lead secure the generator output bat terminal with 20 n.m torque then place the protective boot on the terminal. Install the generator rear brace , finger start the rear brace bolt and nut , and tighten them in the mandatory torque sequence: thoroughly tighten the rear brace bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft), followed by rear brace nut tightening to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). After installing the Drive Belt reconnect the negative battery ground cable.
