2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Starter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The vehicle requires secure elevation while you disconnect the battery negative cable. First remove the front lower air deflector panel with all torque converter covers in place. Use a wrench to remove the Starter solenoid bat terminal nut before disconnecting the Starter solenoid wire through the s terminal nut. Extract the Starter bolts (1,2) from their mounting points followed by removing the Starter motor while also discarding any present shims. To install the 3.8l engine Starter motor use pg260 f2 type while aligning it with the engine then reinstall shims when originally removed. Caution: tighten the Starter bolts (1,2) only a few turns when placing them in position but torque them to 43 n.m (32 lb ft). Connect the positive Battery Cable first then install the solenoid bat terminal nut to finger tight specifications before wiring the Starter solenoid and installing the s terminal nut to finger tight specifications. First tighten the solenoid bat terminal nut with 9.5 n.m (84 lb in) torque followed by tightening the s terminal nut with 2.3 n.m (20.5 lb in). After securing all parts in place install the torque converter covers then install the front lower air deflector panel while lowering the vehicle before reconnecting the battery negative cable.
