2000 Chevrolet Prizm Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S 1) on 2000 Chevrolet Prizm?
A: The service procedure for heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 1) must start with verifying both connector and pigtail attachment since their damage or removal will affect functionality. Handle the sensor gently while preventing any drops and ensure both the connector and louvered end stay clean without removing contaminants from any areas since cleaning solvents and terminal or wiring repairs will degrade performance by blocking the essential external air reference. To replace ho2s 1 you must first disconnect its electrical connector followed by removing the 2 ho2s 1 hold down nuts and extracting the sensor together with its gasket from the Exhaust Pipe. The ho2s 1 gasket should be placed on the Exhaust Manifold first before installing the ho2s 1. Secondly you must install 2 ho2s 1 hold down nuts before tightening to 44 n.m (32 lb ft). Reinstall the ho2s 1 electrical connector as the last step.
