- Q: How to replace the lower intake manifold on 2000 GMC Savana 3500?A: As a first step, disconnect the negative cable of the battery then drain the engine coolant before replacing the lower Intake Manifold. Start by disconnecting the air cleaner intake duct, engine cover and Coolant Reservoir from the system. You must detach both upper and lower radiator hoses in addition to inlet heater hose and outlet heater hose and coolant bypass hose. Disconnect power wiring of the scpi injector first, followed by MAP Sensor then evap canister purge solenoid valve, iac motor, tp sensor, egr valve, and ect sensor. For models with all these components installed remove the air bypass hose assembly and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the vehicle. Separate each component including Distributor, fuel pipes, accelerator control cable, and cruise control cables. First extract the acceleration control cable bracket followed by Ignition Coil removal and icm bracket and egr pipe extraction. The a/c system allows refrigerant to remain inside without needing release. Set the A/C Compressor aside after removal when the vehicle has this equipment. First remove the power steering pulley and pump mounting bracket. Then take off the left and right side valve rocker arm covers before you detach the lower Intake Manifold. All areas which need to be sealed should be cleaned before adding the new lower Intake Manifold. Installation includes the left and right side valve rocker arm covers and the power steering pump mounting bracket and A/C Compressor (when applicable). You need to install the egr pipe followed by the Ignition Coil and icm bracket and finally add the air bypass hose assembly if your vehicle has it. First reinstall the accelerator control cable bracket and then connect the accelerator control cable along with the cruise control cable. Mount the Intake Manifold Distributor followed by fuel pipes and pcv tube installation. If equipped with a Brake Booster Vacuum Hose users must connect it before they complete electrical connector installations for scpi injector, map sensor, evap canister purge solenoid valve, iac motor, tp sensor, egr valve and ect sensor. The service technician should reinstall the air bypass hose assembly when equipped with the upper Radiator Hose inlet and outlet heater hoses and coolant bypass hose. Replace the Coolant Reservoir along with the engine cover and air cleaner assembly. When finished add coolant to your engine while reconnecting the battery negative terminal.
