How to install the lower intake manifold on GMC Savana 3500?

Apply gm p/n 12346141 adhesive with a 4.0 mm (0.157 inch) patch to each end of the Cylinder Head side of the lower Intake Manifold gasket before inserting the gasket onto the Cylinder Head through the gasket locator pins for correct seating. All sealing surfaces should remain completely free from oil together with dirt and foreign materials during installation. Apply 5 mm (0.197 inch) of adhesive gm p/n 12346141 or equivalent to both engine block locations starting at the front top and extending 13 mm (0.50 inch) onto each lower Intake Manifold gasket. Continue this process at the rear top of the engine block. Place the lower Intake Manifold onto the engine block and cylinder heads and secure it with threadlock gm p/n 12345382 or equivalent on each lower Intake Manifold bolt threading. Cap off the proper tightening procedure marked by sequence and torque requirements. The installation requires three consecutive torque settings: initial 3 nm (27 inch lbs.) for the first pass (1-8) then 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) for the second pass followed by 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) as the final pass. To complete the connection for the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve harness simply push the elbow towards the valve and watch for the quick connect to snap into position. Afterward carefully pull the elbow back to verify the proper connection.

How to replace the intake manifold on GMC Savana 3500?

First, you need to remove the Throttle Body, oil fill tube, and fuel injectors to replace your Intake Manifold. Remove the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and Knock Sensor electrical connectors and pull the Knock Sensor harness connector from the Intake Manifold and lay the electrical harness down. Then, take off the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose together with the valve and MAP Sensor from the Intake Manifold. Remove accelerator control cable bracket bolts and the bracket and evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid vent tube followed by detaching the evap pipe end from the solenoid, squeezing the evap pipe quick connect fitting retainer, and removal of evap pipe end from vapor pipe. Unbolt the evap purge solenoid bolt, solenoid , and isolator from the Intake Manifold and remove bolts from the intake and the manifold, uninstall the Intake Manifold Gasket, which should be thrown out. New Intake Manifold gaskets should directly be mounted to the Intake Manifold, after which the manifold is installed. Assemble a 5mm (0.20in) band of threadlock gm p/n# 12345382 (Canadian P/N# 10953489) or equivalent to the Intake Manifold bolts and install the nuts, and tighten them in sequence to 5mn (44 inch lbs) for the initial turn and final turn to 10mn (89inch lbs). Mount evap purge solenoid, isolator and bolt to Intake Manifold, tightening solenoid bolt down to 10 nm (89 inches lb.). Reinstall the evap purge solenoid vent tube onto the solenoid and vapor pipe and then install accelerator control cable bracket and its bolts tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Apply a light coat of clean engine oil on the MAP Sensor seal and install a MAP Sensor onto the Intake Manifold followed by the pcv hose (with valve). You should connect the Knock Sensor harness electrical connector of the Intake Manifold and the electrical connectors of your MAP Sensor, knock sensor, and EGR Valve if available. Lastly, replace the fuel injectors as well as oil fill tube and the Throttle Body.
