2001 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2001 Buick Century?
A: Start Heater Core replacement by taking out both air cleaner assembly and bleeding down the coolant. Start by disconnecting both heater hoses at the Heater Core before moving to the removal of the lower floor console when present and then the lh and rh instrument panel insulators. Begin by moving the Heater Core outlet cover downward and to the rear to release it from connection with the rear area floor duct assembly. Subsequently you can remove the screws followed by the outlet cover itself. Remove all screws from the Heater Core cover then take out the cover together with seats (1, 2, 3), and Heater Core outer seal. First remove the screw which holds the Heater Core line clamp followed by unclamping the retaining clamp then loosen the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw. Remove the Heater Core from the hvac lower case while discarding its lower seal and center seal and upper seal and side seals. You should begin the installation process by fitting the side seals with the upper seal and center seal and lower seal onto the Heater Core and inserting the Heater Core into the hvac lower case. Secure the Heater Core line clamp screw at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque while installing the Heater Core mounting clip along with its screw, tightening it to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Begin by attaching the outer seal to the Heater Core and then securing the new seals (1, 2, 3) on the Heater Core cover before installing the cover with its screws that need to be tightened to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Screw and attach the Heater Core outlet cover before tightening its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). To finish the procedure clients should install the lower floor console when present along with the lh and rh instrument panel insulators then connect both heater hoses before refilling coolant and reinstalling the air cleaner assembly.
