- Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?A: Before installing the new compressor hose assembly you must recover all refrigerant from the system. First disconnect the battery and remove the suction line retaining bracket then remove the air cleaner assembly. Start by untethering the accumulator from the compressor suction hose followed by removing the condenser from the compressor discharge hose. First remove the engine splash shield before disconnecting the left engine oil cooler line from the oil filter adapter. Unthread the bolt which maintains the compressor hose assembly on the compressor while removing the compressor hose from the vehicle. Insert the compressor hose assembly into the vehicle position until it reaches the compressor and apply a torque of 30 n.m (20 lb ft). First, reinstall the engine splash shield followed by reattaching the left engine oil cooler line at the oil filter adapter. The compressor hose gets reconnected to the accumulator and tightening torque should measure 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Reinstall the compressor hose onto the condenser securing it with a bolt torque of 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Reinstall the air cleaner assembly. Carry out a leak test on the fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) after the a/c system gets recharged.
