- Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on 2001 Cadillac Seville?A: Commence surge tank replacement by draining part of the engine coolant followed by air cleaner assembly removal. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank before using the same pliers to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank . Disconnection of the Coolant Level Sensor connector follows surge tank mounting screw and nut removal to extract the surge tank. Place the surge tank across two wheelhouse studs then fasten it while tightening the fasteners to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). First connect the connector to the Coolant Level Sensor followed by joining the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank using the hose pliers (J 38185). Replace the surge tank inlet hose back onto the surge tank. To complete the installation replace the air cleaner assembly before positioning the surge tank inlet hose to its retaining feature on the resonator. Then fill the cooling system.
