How to replace the rear side door handle on 2001 Cadillac Seville?

Starting the installation of the rear side door outside handle requires a fully closed window first. You must remove the door trim panel and also the water deflector. The rod connecting the outside Door Handle should be separated from the door latch retainer clip. The access to fasteners on the outside Door Handle requires removal of the large plug before taking out the two fasteners installed on the handle. The assembly removal step requires pressing up on both lower retaining tabs before pulling the handle with its attached rod free. To install the rod use the cutout opening and place the handle at the desired spot before pressing it towards the door metal until the two lower retaining tabs secure the metal. Pass both fasteners of the outside Door Handle through the access holes before securing them at 7 n.m (62 lb in). To connect the outside Door Handle rod with the latch use the plug by placing it in the hole followed by rod insertion into the retainer clip on the Door Latch Assembly before closing the clip. Checking proper Door Handle operation should be done before reattaching the water deflector. Replace the water deflector by inserting the deflector into position while adding the door trim panel into place.
