- Q: How to replace the engine mount on 2001 Chevrolet Camaro?A: Starting Engine Mount replacement requires engine support from j 28467-a universal support fixture together with j 41044 engine support adapters when the engine is raised because direct contact with the Oil Pan and crankshaft balancer should be avoided. Initiate the procedure by unfastening the generator and Ignition Control Module then install the engine support fixture to the engine before raising the vehicle. First remove the 3-way Catalytic Converter then take off the right side Engine Mount via its bolt nut followed by the left side Engine Mount through bolt nut . The technician will proceed by removing the transmission oil cooler pipe bracket bolt and bracket before lowering the vehicle and separating the A/C Compressor that requires no refrigerant recovery. The engine needs mild elevation so the through bolts experience less tension before removing the right Engine Mount through bolt and the left Engine Mount through bolt. Return to a safe raised height and remove engine mounts from underneath the vehicle before a second raise enables bolt removal of both right and left engine mounts together with their corresponding mount pieces. Begin by fitting the left Engine Mount alongside its corresponding bolts onto the crossmember section then tighten the bolts to 58 nm (43 ft. Lbs.). Install the right Engine Mount along with its bolts to the crossmember by torquing all bolts to 58 nm (43 ft. Lbs.). Position the mount bracket and mount through holes correctly before starting installation of the left Engine Mount through bolt and the right Engine Mount through bolt. First mount the A/C Compressor to the bracket then raise the vehicle before installing the transmission oil cooler pipe bracket along with its bolt at 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Begin by attaching the left side Engine Mount through bolt along with tightening its nut to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.) followed by securing the right side Engine Mount through bolt to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). The 3-way Catalytic Converter must be reinstalled and the vehicle needs lowering before separating the engine support fixture. The last phase involves putting back the Ignition Control Module along with the generator.
