Q: How to replace the water pump on 2001 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Begin by draining and partially draining the Radiator through its drain cock before tightening it to 2 nm (18 inch lbs.). First unlatch the Water Pump Pulley bolts to take off the accessory Drive Belt. Detach the inlet hose from the Water Pump through the clamps. Take off both Water Pump Pulley bolts and then pull out the pulley. Remove the Water Pump bolts and pump itself before taking out the gasket. Thoroughly examine the Water Pump parts and put in the new gasket along with the Water Pump. Apply 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) torque to the Water Pump bolts then 80 degrees more using j 36660-a torque/angle meter. Insert the Radiator inlet hose into the Water Pump housing while placing it in the correct alignment and attach the Water Pump Pulley. Position Water Pump Pulley bolts lightly first and then put on the accessory Drive Belt. During the final steps you need to adjust both Water Pump bolts and pulley bolts to 13 nm (115 inch lbs.) while filling the engine system with new coolant.
