How to replace the Neutral Safety Switch in the Automatic Transaxle-3T40 on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?

To replace the pnp switch in the automatic transaxle-3t40, disengage the shift linkage and detach the electrical connector. Next, remove the park/neutral position switch mounting bolts and pull the park/neutral position switch assembly up and out from the transmission. When the old switch is to be installed, put the shift shaft in n (Neutral) and align the flats of the shaft with the switch. Install the park in neutral position switch mounting bolts and torque to 24 nm or 18 ft lbs. It is important so that the engine starts only in the p (Park) or n (Neutral) position. Recalibrate the switch if the engine starts in another position. Finally, switch on the ignition in the on position.
