How to replace the rear side door handle on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?

The replacement process of the rear side door outside handle starts by removing both the rear door trim panel along with the rear door water deflector. Remove the clip from the outside handle rod before discarding the rod-to-lock clip. Begin by taking out the rear door outside door handle bolt access plug and following it with the removal of the three rear door outside door handle bolts. Move the rear door outside door handle with its rod from the compartment and extract the rod from the handle frame. Position the rear door outside door handle together with the handle rod on the door before securing all three rear door outside door handle bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Set the rear door outside door handle bolt access plug in place while mounting NEW outside handle rod-to-lock clips onto the door lock lever so the outside door handle rod enters the clip without free movement. After installing the rear door water deflector you can reinstall the rear door trim panel while placing the threaded outside door handle rod inside the clip cover.
