2001 Chevrolet Impala Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start the Heater Core replacement process by taking out the air cleaner assembly followed by draining the coolant. The first step involves heater hose removal from the Heater Core then uninstalling instrument panel insulators together with lower floor console if your car model includes it. You should elevate the heater outlet cover rearward and downward to disconnect it from the rear area floor duct assembly before setting aside the hvac wiring harness bracket. The first step involves removing screws from the heater outlet cover then taking out the cover and next performing the same procedure for Heater Core cover and its accompanying parts. Eliminate the seals numbered (1, 2, and 3) from the Heater Core cover in addition to the Heater Core outer seal. Reroute the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw and the Heater Core line clamp screw to proceed with removing the Heater Core retaining clamp and Heater Core from the hvac lower case. Discard the hvac lower case components including Heater Core lower seal , center seal , upper seal and side seals after removing the Heater Core tube support bracket (clamp). The Heater Core side seals must be first inserted into the hvac lower case before installing the upper seal then the center seal and finally the lower seal. The hvac lower case accepts the Heater Core tube support bracket (clamp) and Heater Core in this order. In the installation sequence tighten the Heater Core line clamp screw to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) and the Heater Core mounting clip screw to the same torque measurement. Begin by attaching the Heater Core outer seal to the Heater Core. Afterward install new seals labeled 1, 2, 3 to the Heater Core cover then fasten its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). After installing the Heater Core outlet cover fasten its screws with 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque. Install the hvac wiring harness bracket next followed by tightening its bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in) before resecuring the lower floor console when present and then attaching both instrument panel insulators. After connecting the heater hoses to the Heater Core one must refill coolant and set the air cleaner assembly back in place.
