How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

Start the sensor replacement by lifting the vehicle and putting supports underneath. Unplug the vehicle speed sensor connector before removing its retaining bolt and sensor fixture toward you to keep the housing intact. Install the vehicle speed sensor after cleaning it properly and put on its retaining bolt. Tighten the stud to 12 Nm (97 inch lbs.). After connecting the electrical sensor again turn off safety stands and let the vehicle down.
