  A: The first task to replace a brake caliper includes lifting the vehicle and removing the tire and wheel piece. Take off the brake hose union bolt first while positioning a fluid receptacle under the hose. Disconnect the brake hose afterward. Unbolt the 2 caliper pins then slide off the caliper from its bracket. Look for worn or corroded dust boots on the caliper pins and mounting bolts during this inspection.
