- Q: How to replace the Motor and Transmission Mount for the 3 Speed-MB3 on 2001 Chevrolet Prizm?A: Start the automatic transmission mount replacement for the 3 speed-mb3 by installing the engine support fixture then securely raising the vehicle. Disassemble by removing 6 left splash shield bolts, left splash shield and 3 rear transaxle mount nuts which secure the front suspension crossmember before extracting the plastic access cover from the crossmember. The front control arms need separation from the steering knuckles followed by the removal of two bolts connecting the radiator core support to the center crossmember. Use a suitable jack to support both the front suspension and center crossmembers before removing the 12 front suspension crossmember bolts while lowering the assembly until the rear transaxle mounting studs become exposed. Drain the through bolt and rear transaxle mount from the rear transaxle mounting bracket before extracting the rear transaxle mount from the vehicle. Secure the rear transaxle mount within its mounting bracket but stop short of completing the bolt torque. Candlejack the transaxle with a recommended tool until it reaches optimal position before elevating the front suspension and center crossmembers in a controlled manner so that rear transaxle studs enter their holes. Install the 12 bolts into the front suspension crossmember, tightening them to 206 nm (152 ft. Lbs.)use the recommended torque value of 87 nm (64 ft. Lbs.) to tighten the through-bolt in the rear transaxle. Remove the jack, then install and tighten the 2 bolts to the center crossmember at the radiator core support to 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.) fasten the 2 bolts that secure the front transaxle mount to the center crossmember with a torque of 64 nm (47 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the center crossmember plastic access cover before connecting both front control arms to the steering knuckles. Then install the 3 nuts to the rear transaxle mount at the front suspension crossmember while tightening them to 57 nm (42 ft. Lbs.). Finally, install the 6 bolts and the left splash shield, tightening the bolts to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.)after lowering the vehicle remove the engine support fixture and proceed with the vehicle lowering process.
