2001 Chevrolet Venture Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To replace the front brake hose, first rase and support the vehicle and unbolts the tire and wheel assembly. Clean all grime off the brake hose and brake pipe fittings, and cover the exposed brake pipe fitting with a rubber cap or plug to avoid fluid loss. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and remove the brake hose retainer from the brake hose by using a flat-bladed tool. Next, detach the brake hose from the brake hose bracket and pull out the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper before pulling out the brake hose from the brake caliper. Throw out the two rubber washers (copper brake hose gaskets) that are unlikely to glue to the end of the brake caliper hose and the other part of the brake caliper and place a rubber plug in the hole of the brake caliper fluid piece where the brake caliper is bolted to prevent lose of the fluids. During installation, you need to remove the plug made out of rubber, making sure you replace it with new copper brake hose gaskets. Then mount the brake hose bolt including new gaskets, to the brake hose and tighten to the brake caliper to a torque of 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.). Check that the brake hose is not twisted or kinked, lining it up with the notch in the brake hose bracket through the stripe of the hose. Fit the brake hose to the bracket, as well as fit the brake hose retainer to the hose. Take the rubberlah cap off the brake pipe fitting end, and attach the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose and tight it to 21 nm (15 ft. Lbs). Do not move the vehicle until the brake pedal firmness is attained to avert chances of incurring an injury from the air in the braking system. Bleed the brake caliper at the bleeder screw and replace the assembly of the tire and wheel assembly before gently lowering the vehicle.
