- Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2001 GMC Savana 2500?A: Beginning Throttle Body replacement requires users to disconnect the negative cable from the battery then remove engine cover and air cleaner outlet resonator and air cleaner adapter stud. The first step involves detaching the cruise control cable and accelerator cable from their connectors. Then remove the stud and nuts from the accelerator control cable bracket before placing it safely aside. The first task requires disconnecting idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector and throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector. Next remove Throttle Body retaining studs until the Throttle Body assembly can be extracted. Discard Throttle Body seat when finished. Clean the Intake Manifold gasket area before installing the new Throttle Body assembly with its new seal which requires 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque on retaining studs. Reinstall the adapter stud for the air cleaner outlet resonator while tightening fasteners to 8 n.m (72 lb in) then attach tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors. Use 12 n.m (108 lb in) of torque when fastening the accelerator control bracket while verifying the cables won't keep the throttle open. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable after installing the accelerator cable along with the cruise control cable and air cleaner outlet resonator and engine cover assembly. Test the accelerator pedal by letting it drop to the floor position and release it to ensure it moves without any interference.
