How to replace the evaporator core in an A/C system on 2001 GMC Savana 3500?

In order to change the evaporator core, recover the refrigerant, empty the coolant recovery reservoir, de-plumb the low pressure sensor, and empty the accumulator. Separate the evaporator tube, withdraw the front cover and strip out the evaporator core. Install the new core, reassemble and leak test.
