- Q: How to replace the front door hinge on 2002 Buick Regal?A: Start hinge replacement by supporting the door after opening it. Start by removing the intermediate door hinge bolts and the hinge spring followed by moving the door out from the front pillar until the conduit allows maximum distance. Apply a grease pencil to mark where the door hinges belong before cleaning both mounting areas. First detach the bolts from the door side hinge before you can take away the door side hinge. The body side door hinge requires four different bolts that include two 13 mm bolts together with a TORX(R) bolt and a 10 mm bolt. A cone installed on the back of the hinge has the potential to drop into the front pillar but serves only for assembly needs. Mark the hinge position on the body pillar mounting surface after cleaning it. Adjust the cone adjuster bolt position only when needed because any change will result in front pillar rattling. Rewiring the back side hinge of the body requires removal of two 13 mm body side hinge bolts and the TORX(R) head body side hinge bolt followed by body side hinge separation. Before attaching the new door side hinge to the body align its marks with the previous ones users must apply equivalent material to the GM P/N 12345382 (Locktite(R) Blue) or the Canadian P/N 10953489. Tighten the door side hinge bolts to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Put the new body side hinge in position according to the aged marks before applying Locktite(R) then secure its two 13 mm body side hinge bolts into place at 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Tighten the TORX(R) head body side hinge bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in) as the first step before securing the intermediate door hinge bolts with a torque of 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Reinstall the front fender insulator but remove the door support before readjusting the door then sealing it shut.
