  A: Hook up the Brake Master Cylinder to a bench vise to work on it. Your access point must be the back of the primary Piston. Push the primary Piston with a round-ended tool while holding the cylinder still and then take off the Piston retainer and primary Piston assembly. Fitting the cylinder ports while blowing non-lubricated filtered air through the front port lets you remove the secondary Piston simultaneously with its primary and secondary seals plus the return spring. Discard the primary Piston and seal components. Wash the inside and outside parts of the master cylinder and return spring with denatured alcohol. Then inspect the secondary Piston and replace the master cylinder if damage is found. Introduce filtered non-lubricated air to remove moisture and put delco supreme 11 brake fluid from gm part number 12377967 or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid into all components and the bore. Install the new primary seal and retainer with their lubrication plus the secondary seal onto the secondary Piston. Subsequently add the lubricated return spring and secondary Piston assembly into the cylinder. Finally put in the new primary Piston assembly. Press the primary Piston using a round-end tool before adding the new Piston retainer. Place the master cylinder reservoir and its cap back onto the system before reinstalling the master cylinder unit.
