Putting your fingers close to the Piston when using compressed air can result in serious harm to yourself. Place clean cloths inside the housing to protect the Piston while blowing low air pressure to remove bores without harming the parts. Press low-pressure compressed air into the caliper bore through its fluid inlet to push the Brake Caliper Piston out of the bore. Pluck the Piston dust boot seal using a small wooden tool before taking out the Piston seal from both caliper parts. Take out the bleeder valve component from the caliper to prepare it for installation. Keep all cleaning materials free of abrasive materials when working with brake caliper pistons. Use denatured alcohol or its substitute to wipe down the Brake Caliper Piston bore and seal counterbore, as well as the caliper Piston. Check the caliper bore for issues using dry non-oil filtered air before examining it for damage including cracks, surface wear, bulges and rust problems. You should clean light rust and corrosion with fine emery paper but must replace the entire caliper if removal is not possible. Replace the caliper unit due to damage found from cracks, heavy corrosion, excessive rust, scoring, or pits. Test the caliper Piston for any damage and put in a new one when needed. Follow the new Piston seal installation process by applying delco supreme ii brake fluid according to gm p/n 12377967 reference and insert the product into the caliper bore. Place the caliper Piston inside the bore and put on the new Piston dust boot seal on top of the Piston. The j 35777 caliper Piston seal installer helps push the boot into proper place inside the caliper before tightening down the bleeder valve and cap. Reposition the repaired caliper on top of its original location.
