2002 Chevrolet Prizm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2002 Chevrolet Prizm?
A: To install a new Thermostat, drain the cooling system, and then take the 2 nuts and Thermostat Housing off from the cylinder block. Second, remove the Thermostat from the Thermostat Housing and the o-ring. Remove any corrosion and debris on the Thermostat cap and ensure that the cylinder block is free from the mating surface. Check the Thermostat before installing it; ensure that the air bleed valve is facing upward. Mount the Thermostat and install a new Thermostat o-ring subsequent to connecting the Thermostat Housing to the cylinder block. Tighten the Thermostat cap using the 2 nuts, it to 9 nm (80 inch lbs). Fill up the Radiator with approved coolant, start the engine, run it until the coolant shows the temperature of operation with warm hoses and coolant in the Radiator as flow. Verify leaks in the cooling system before turning off the engine, and finally, install the cap on the Radiator.
