How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on 2002 Chevrolet Prizm?

First, you need to take off the Battery Cable by disconnecting it. Remove the single retaining bolt and take the vss out of the transaxle after disconnecting the vss electrical connector . Before installing the vss, check the vss o-ring for damage and change it if you see any damage. Coat the new vss o-ring with Transmission Assembly lubricant (J 36850) before installing the vss back into the transaxle case. Put the vss back into the case and fasten it with the retaining bolt set to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). Reattach the vss electrical connector and battery negative cable last.
