Clean cloths inside caliper housing protect pins from harm during removal when you supply enough compressor air to move them smoothly out of their bores. Pump low-pressure compressed air into the caliper bore until the Brake Caliper Piston moves out through the fluid inlet hole. A short wooden or plastic tool helps you take out and dispose of both the Piston dust boot seal and Piston seal from the caliper unit. First disconnect the caliper bleeder components for further work. Avoid brushing off your Brake Caliper Piston during cleaning. Use denatured alcohol or suitable cleaning solution to purge all dirt from both the caliper Piston bore and seal area plus the Piston itself. Filter clean non-lubricated air to dry the components while looking for cracks, scoring, pitting, excessive rust, and heavy corrosion inside the caliper bore. Plan to replace the caliper assembly when fine emery paper fails to remove light rust or corrosion from the components. Replace the whole caliper unit whenever you find cracks, scratches, or major corrosion in it. If you find damage on the chrome-plated caliper Piston examine or damage to the caliper Piston please replace it. Apply delco supreme 11(R) brake fluid equivalent to gm p/n 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667) or dot-3 fluid from a clean container to the new Piston seal and install it into the caliper bore. First place the caliper Piston inside the bore space before adding the new Piston dust boot seal over the Piston. Seat the Piston seal completely by using the j 35777 caliper Piston seal installer (J 35777). Affix and tighten the bleeder valve and cap securely to finish the installation process. After installation place the caliper back into position.
