2003 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: To replace the rear brake hose you must first lift and support the vehicle and then remove its tire and wheel assembly. Clean all dirt off the brake hose and brake pipe fittings, and fit a rubber cap or plug to the end of the exposed brake pipe fitting that will prevent loss of the brake fluid or contamination. Dismount the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and cap the ends of the fitting. With a flat-bladed tool, pry out the brake hose retainer, next remove the brake hose from the bracket, the bolt from the brake caliper that holds the brake hose, and finally the brake hose. Remove the two copper brake hose gaskets, they could stick in the caliper or the end of the hose and insert the rubber plug into the brake hose to caliper bolt. For installation, take out rubber plug and always use new copper brake hose gaskets. Mount the brake hose with the new gaskets and bolt and attach the brake hose to the caliper bolt tightening it up to 44 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) without distorting the hose. Then, attach the brake hose to the bracket and the retainer to the hose. Take off the rubber cap from the end of the brake pipe fitting and connect the brake pipe fitting with the brake hose and tighten it on a torque of 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Lastly, bleed the hydraulic brake system, reinstalled the tire and wheel assembly and drop the vehicle.
