2004 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Before starting work raise and stabilize the vehicle and detach the tire and wheel unit. Clean impurities on both brake hose and brake pipe ends after removing dirt. Add a rubber seal to protect the exposed brake pipe to keep brake fluid intact. Sever the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and plug its exposed opening with a rubber cap. You will need a flat-bladed tool to detach the brake hose retainer before pulling out the brake hose from its bracket and unbolting the brake hose to caliper connection from the caliper body. Then you can remove the hose. Secure the two brake hose gaskets in trash since they tend to adhere to brake caliper or pipe ends. Next insert a rubber plug into the brake hose's caliper bolt hole. Take the bolt out from the strut assembly connector then remove the hose. Install new copper brake hose gaskets by taking off the rubber plug from the brake hose to caliper bolt spot. Put the brake hose together with new gaskets and bolt before attaching it to the brake caliper bolt at 44 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) force without turning or kinking the hose. Click the brake hose onto the bracket and use the brake hose retainer. Pull off the rubber plug at the brake pipe fitting end. Fitting the brake pipe to the hose afterwards torque its end to 80 inch lbs (9nm) and attach the brake bracket to the strut assembly with its bolt while tightening it to 115 inch lbs (13 nm). The last step is to bleed the hydraulic brake system while putting back the wheel and tire then lowering the vehicle.
