  A: The first step when replacing Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor (SIS) should involve disabling the SIR system. Make sure to avoid hitting the SIS or jostling it then double-check the secure attachment before turning on power because this may cause the deployment or physical harm. Proceed to position the seat at its fullest forward extent while also removing the center pillar trim panel. Disconnect the connector position assurance (CPA) from the harness connector to the SIS and then remove the harness connector from the SIS . Use a screwdriver to remove all SIS mounting fasteners then carefully extract the SIS from the center pillar. Before mounting the new SIS onto the center pillar wipe down the surface to remove all dirt and grease then use mounting fasteners to secure it with a torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reattach the harness connector to the SIS while you mount the CPA onto the SIS harness connector. Fit the center pillar trim and return the seat to its original position before you turn on the SIR functionality.
