How to replace the side impact Air Bag Sensor on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

The first step to replace the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) requires disabling the SIR system. The first step involves moving the seat into its full forward position followed by removing the center pillar trim panel. Remove connector position assurance (CPA) from the SIS harness connector before you detach the harness connector from the SIS. Use a hex driver to remove SIS mounting fasteners before extracting the SIS from center pillar. Clear any dirt grease or impurities from the mounting surface before reinstalling the SIS back into the center pillar. Fasten the SIS mounting fasteners after aligning them properly then screw them to a torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Connect the harness connector to the SIS and install the CPA to the SIS harness connector. Finish the installation by replacing center pillar trim followed by seat movement to its original position and activation of SIR system.
