Start by disassembling the crankshaft balancer along with the Water Pump before removing the Oil Pan-to-front cover bolts followed by the front cover bolts. Lift off the front cover and gasket before discarding the outdated gasket. To replace the engine front cover first clean and inspect the components while keeping the crankshaft oil seal and front cover gasket for replacement only and not applying sealer to the front cover gasket unless explicitly stated. Place 20-mm-long 0.20-inch-sealing bead of gm U.S. P/N 12378190 or equivalent sealant at the engine block to Oil Pan junction before installing the front cover gasket and cover.
