2003 Chevrolet Tracker Brake Drum Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: After releasing the park brake proceed to remove the console by taking out 4 screws (1,3,4,6) plus 2 clips (2,5). First twist the parking brake cable lock nut followed by lifting and supporting the car at proper height. Uninstall the tire and wheel from the vehicle and detach all locking washers from wheel studs. When hand removal of the drum does not work you need to install 8 mm bolts into the drum openings. Tighten these bolts to pop out the drum from the hub. Check the Brake Shoe outer diameter before installing a new drum. Set up the adjuster when needed if the measurement sits between 8.638 inch and 8.650 inch. Put the Brake Drum back in place while keeping it dry from contamination and install the locking washers onto the wheel studs and the tire assembly. Press the Brake Pedal three to ten times with 30 kg (66 lb) pressure while lowering the vehicle enough to set correct Brake Drum clearance with the shoes. Make parking brake adjustments before replacing the console parts by fastening the 4 screws (1,3,4,6) with their screws and 2 clips (2,5).
