2003 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Weather Strip on the liftgate on 2003 GMC Safari?
A: The weather strip replacement starts with opening the door and removing the fourth pillar trim and back upper garnish molding. First handle the left part number 12345 and right part number 12346. Follow this with the removal of the left part number 12348 and right part number 12349. The last step is the weather strip removal from the pinch-weld flange starting at the top right corner. Uninstall both body side panels first on the left (part number: 12348) and right (part number: 12349) before removing the rear trim panel (part number: 12350). Begin removing the weather strip by pulling it from the pinch-weld flange at its upper right end. You should manually position the weather strip onto the top right corner of the pinch-weld flange then use a rubber mallet when installing areas where the flange is thick and at corners. Install the trim panels first (12348 left, 12349 right), then put back on the rear trim plate (12350) before adding the body side trim parts (12348, 12349), upper rear garnish (12347) and fourth pillar trim (12345, 12346). When done press the door tight to finish installation.
