2004 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2004 Buick Century?
A: You must begin the compressor hose assembly replacement by recovering all refrigerant and afterward disassembling left front fender upper diagonal brace and air cleaner assembly from the system. When starting the replacement you need to remove the a/c compressor hose nut before disconnecting the a/c compressor hose from the condenser. Tighten the tool on the a/c compressor hose nut beforehand then disconnect both ends of the a/c compressor hose by removing the nut. The first installation step for the a/c compressor hose involves removing the lower air deflector and the a/c compressor hose assembly nut from the a/c compressor before pulling the a/c compressor hose off the compressor. Each piece of used o-ring seal and washer needs proper removal before disposal. The a/c compressor installation requires new sealing washers to be placed on the a/c compressor hose assembly before the equipment is connected to the a/c compressor while tightening the a/c compressor hose nut to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Fasten the a/c compressor hose to the accumulator by installing a/c compressor hose nut which requires 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque. Application of a new o-ring seal to the a/c compressor hose assembly is necessary before completing the installation. The a/c compressor hose requires nut tightening to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) while installed at the condenser. The last steps involve reinstating the air cleaner assembly and left front fender upper diagonal brace followed by evacuating and recharging the a/c system with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for fittings leaks.
