2005 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose for the condenser on 2005 Buick Century?
A: The first action for replacing the condenser tube is to recover all refrigerant present. Begin by removing three vehicle components starting with the air cleaner assembly followed by the Brake Booster followed by the lower radiator air baffle. Unscrew the condenser tube nut at the condenser then detach the condenser tube from the condenser. Remove the vehicle from its current elevation while disconnecting the electrical connector which controls the a/c refrigerant pressure sensor. Before removing the condenser tube properly disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser tube and the condenser tube from its support clip and loosen the evaporator tube nut. Dispose of the o-ring then extract the a/c pressure sensor from the condenser tube. When ready for installation you must place the a/c pressure sensor onto the new condenser tube and insert a fresh o-ring. After securing the condenser tube to its support clip you must connect the evaporator tube to the condenser tube and finally tighten the evaporator tube nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Connect the a/c refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector before you lift the vehicle. Then support it while connecting the condenser tube to the condenser unit by tightening the condenser tube nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). To complete the procedure install the lower radiator air baffle and vacuum Brake Booster followed by the air cleaner assembly then evacuate the a/c system before charging it and utilizing the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test for system leaks.
