  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2005 Buick Century?
    A: In case the accumulator is to be replaced, first, recover refrigerant. Remove the air cleaner assembly, then loosen theaccumulator hose nut and remove theaccumulator hose from the accumulator. Next, take off this a/c compressor hose block fitting nut and disconnect this from the accumulator a/c compressor hose. Now remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt and the accumulator bracket bolt clamp and remove the accumulator from the mounting bracket. If replacing the accumulator, it is topped off with refrigerant oil prior to installing a new accumulator onto the mounting bracket and tightening the accumulator bracket bolt clamp to 4 n.m (36 lb in). Put in the accumulator and the accumulator bracket retaining bolt, as well as tighten it to 4 n.m (36 lb in). Mounts new o-ring seals onto a/c compressor hose and accumulator hose and connects accumulator hose to the accumulator and secures by tightening the accumulator hose nut to 47 n.m (35 lb ft). Connect a/c compressor hose on the accumulator and fit the a/c compressor hose nut with a tightening force of 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Finally, install the air cleaner assembly, evacuate the a/c system, recharge it and conduct the testing of the fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
