2004 Buick Century Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2004 Buick Century?
A: The first step for Thermostat replacement starts by taking out the air cleaner intake duct and draining part of the cooling system. Through the use of hose clamp pliers (J 38185) move the hose clamp away from the water outlet housing to detach the radiator inlet hose from its position. Begin by removing exhaust crossover pipe and water outlet housing bolts before taking out the water outlet housing together with its gasket. Remove the Thermostat for cleaning before checking the mating surfaces between the water outlet housing gasket. Begin by putting the Thermostat into position and then apply the water outlet gasket and the water outlet housing. Apply torque to the water outlet housing bolts at 25 nm force (18 ft. Lbs.). Position the radiator inlet hose and exhaust crossover pipe onto the water outlet housing then secure the hose clamp with hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Close the duct by following the air cleaner installation sequence.
