How to service and repair the starter motor on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?

In order to service the starter motor, detach the battery negative cable and lift the vehicle. Take off the torque converter cover and then unconnect the battery positive cable and the wire of the solenoid. Disassemble the starter motor, re-assemble and reconnect the cables and then lower the vehicle connecting the battery negative cable once again.
