• Q: How to Replace the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: Start the vehicle replacement of the secondary air injection (AIR) pump by elevating the vehicle to a suitable height. Access the air pump assembly by first taking out retaining screws from the front part of the left front wheel well/splash shield before lowering the splash shield. Loosen and lower the air outlet hose pinch clamp before removing the air inlet hose from the air pump. While doing this you can disconnect the air pump electrical connector. Pull out the air pump from the cradle bracket by lifting it upward after removing the upper air pump to cradle bolt. The installation process begins by inserting lower air pump bolts/nuts into the cradle bracket then pushing down before placing the upper air pump to cradle bolt which requires tightening of both upper and lower air pump to cradle bolts to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Reassociate the air pump electrical connector after installing the air outlet hose using a pinch clamp onto the air pump followed by installation of the air inlet hose onto the air pump. Lastly, lower the vehicle.
