  • Q: How to replace the inlet radiator hose on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: Draining the cooling system should be the first step before removing the air cleaner assembly during replacement of the Radiator inlet hose. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will help you release the tension on Radiator inlet hose clamp which is attached to the Radiator before removing the hose from the Radiator. Proceed with the engine by applying hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to loosen Radiator inlet hose clamp tension at the engine then separate the hose from the engine's opening. Remove the Radiator inlet hose. To avoid Radiator fitting damage align the reference marks present on hoses with the Radiator before installation to prevent cracking or breaking. Clean coolant should be used to lubricate the hose interior before accomplishing installation. Connect the Radiator inlet hose through the engine opening after using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to attach the clamp on the engine side. Make sure to utilize hose clamp pliers (J 38185) for applying tension to the Radiator inlet hose clamp at the Radiator position. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly while performing the steps to fill the cooling system.
