2004 Cadillac XLR Radiator Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the radiator hoses on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: The Radiator Hose replacement process starts with draining the coolant then removing the air cleaner part. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) can be used to free tension on the radiator inlet hose clamp on the radiator before removing the hose from the radiator. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to release tension from the hose at the engine before disconnecting. First disconnect the radiator inlet hose along with the remote Power Steering Reservoir. You must first elevate and stabilize the vehicle while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to loosen the radiator outlet hose clamp on the Water Pump surface before removing both clamp and hose connection from the Water Pump. Unclip the radiator outlet hose clamp at the radiator with the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) before unhooking the hose from the radiator during removal. To prevent damage during installation position the reference marks on hoses and radiator to match one another before tightening fittings. Clean coolant approved should be applied to the inside hose diameters before setting up the radiator outlet hose on the radiator. After engaging tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp at the radiator the vehicle needs to be lowered to attach the radiator outlet hose to the Water Pump while holding tension on that clamp as well. The remote steering reservoir receives replacement while the radiator inlet hose connects to the engine from its original position through the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Resistance on the radiator inlet hose clamp can be achieved using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185), after which you should reconnect the hose to the radiator. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly followed by filling the cooling system.
