2004 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: Begin your Water Pump replacement work by taking off the air cleaner assembly, drive belt and Drive Belt tensioner and draining the cooling system. First take off the Water Pump bolts and extract the Water Pump Pulley from the pump before removing the Water Pump from the front engine cover for disposal of the original gasket. Examine and clean the Water Pump before setting the new pulley onto it and connecting the pump with its gaskets to the engine front cover. Firmly place the Water Pump Pulley bolts at 10 nm then add the Water Pump bolts which need to be first tightened to 15 nm and finally to 30 nm torque. Put back the Drive Belt tensioner and belt then put water into the system before replugging the air filter unit.
